You can open a saved filter in order to view or edit its
definition.
About this task
To open a filter:
Procedure
- Start the Filter Builder.
- Select . The Open Filter window
opens. Note that this window is associated with saving or opening
filters, views, and event list configurations. Therefore, not all
of the fields might be applicable to your current action.
- Complete the window as follows:
- Filter
- Use this field to specify a search query for the type of file
that you want to open. This field works in conjunction with the Filter button
and the Files list. Enter the current directory
path and file type in the Filter field, and
then click Filter. All matching files are displayed
in the Files list.
- For example, to display all the filter files in the /myfiles/filters directory,
enter /myfiles/filters/*.elf and click Filter to
view all matching files.
- Directories
- This list displays all of the subdirectories in the current directory.
To refresh the directory, double-click the '.' entry. To move up the
directory tree by one directory, double-click the '..' entry.
- Files
- This list displays the files in the current directory, which match
the selection in the Filter field. Select the
name of the file that you want to open. You can also select an existing
file that you want to overwrite.
- Selection
- The path and name of the file that you are saving or opening are
shown here. You can edit the path and file name to open a different
file, to save a file to another location, or to save a file by using
a different file name.
- If you are saving a view, use a .elv extension
in the file name. If you are saving a filter, use a .elf extension
in the file name. If you are saving an event list configuration, use
a .elc extension in the file name.
- Backup Existing Files (UNIX only)
- Select this check box to create a backup of an existing view file
if the file name that you are saving already exists. This check box
is displayed only if you are saving a filter, view, or event list
configuration.
- OK
- Click this button to open or save the file.
- Filter
- This button works in conjunction with the Filter field
and the Files list. Click this button to display
files in the current directory based on your selection in the Filter field.
The files appear in the Files list.
- Cancel
- Click this button to close this window without opening or saving
a file.
Results
The filter opens within the Filter Builder.
