Issuing Ping commands

The Ping tool runs the Ping command on the value in the Node column of the alerts.status table.

About this task

To issue a Ping command, perform either of the following actions from the event list:

Select the required row that contains the node that you want to ping. Then click Alerts > Tools > Ping, or right-click and then click Tools > Ping. The status of the node is returned within the Tool Output window.
Click Tools > Ping to issue a ping command to any host. The Tool Parameter window (UNIX) or Internal Command Parameters window (Windows) opens. Complete this window as follows:
Name of the host

Type the IP address or host name of the workstation that you want to access.

OK

Click this button to run the command.

If you ran the Ping tool, it returns the status of the node within the Tool Output window. If you ran the Telnet tool, it connects to the remote host workstation.

Cancel

Click this button to close this window without issuing the command.
