import
To add an existing package that was installed using an installation
tool other than Installation Manager to the list of installed packages
so that Installation Manager can manage the package. This function
is only available after Installation Manager detects a package in
a repository that requires importing.
install
To add a program, program option, or software program to
a computer system in a manner such that it runs and interacts correctly
with all programs on the computer.
installation package
An installable unit of a software product. Software product
packages are separately installable units that can operate independently
from other packages of that software product.
Installation Manager
An application that helps users install, update, roll back,
and modify certain IBM product
installation kit.
integrated package
Packages installed to the same location that share UI elements.
Some packages support installing to the same package group and others
must be installed to a new package group.

license
A legal agreement that authorizes the use of proprietary
information including, but not limited to, copyrighted or patented
information.
license key
An authorization that regulates the use of software licensed
programs. Software license keys need to be installed on the system
when software is upgraded or moved, the hardware processor group is
changed, additional license usage is added, or new software that requires
license keys is purchased.
license server
A program that provides license services and administers
licenses for software products.

A function of IBM Installation
Manager that licensed administrators use to create customized, installable
packages of other IBM applications
for use by other licensed users in the administrator's organization.
permanent license key
A license key that IBM issues when clients purchase an application
that requires such a key.
plug-in
A separately installable software module that adds function
to an existing program, application, or interface.
product activation kit
A permanent license for a product and the application for
installing the license.

service repository
Service repositories are repositories located at IBM.com.
These repositories contain product updates. Each IBM product includes
links to service repositories that are specific to the product.
shared resource
A software file or plug-in that is stored in a directory
and can be shared by packages.
shared resources directory
The directory that contains software files or plug-ins that
are shared by packages. The contents of this directory are used by
all products in all the package groups that are defined on the computer.
synchronize
To update Installation Manager data with new information
about an imported package after detecting changes. Changes to an
imported package can be caused by using a tool other than Installation
Manager to install or remove maintenance, add or remove a feature,
or install or remove a stack product after the package is imported.
